KOCHI: The Department of Islamic History at Maharaja’s College Ernakulam on Thursday organised a national seminar on ‘Malabar Rebellion after nine decades - Issues, approaches and perspectives.’
Inaugurating the seminar, K K N Kurup, Director- general, Centre for Heritage Studies, said that Malabar Rebellion was one of the major events which took place in South India during the Independence struggle.
M T Ansari, Reader, Centre for Comparative Literature, Hyderabad University, delivered the keynote address.
He said that based on the ideology behind the rebellion, one can trace its origin to the 15th and 16th Century during which similar rebellions had taken place. The officials from various colleges attended the function and gave presentations based on the different aspects of the Malabar Rebellion.
